Crash!

SMH. Out of the blue, my external hard drive's USB cord will no longer stay connected, so the drive is constantly turning itself off. I take it to the Geek Squad 🤓 but they're clueless, so they refer me to the Micro Center 20 minutes away. Later that night, I receive a phone call at work.

Him: "Mr. Burkhalter, we successfully put your hard drive in a new enclosure, BUT it's saying 'Unformatted.' That means it's dead. If you'd like to recover the data, we'll send it out to our outside contractor whose prices start at $450 and go up to $1,700."

WELL DAMN. My external drive cost only $60 in 2008. I just gave y'all $80 to tear it apart and put it in a new case. Now you want me to give your friend AT LEAST $450 to ATTEMPT to recover my data? ... ... ...OK. 😭

Lol, after taking an extra 24 hours to make my final decision, I decide FUCK THAT, I'll just buy new porn. 🤑🤑 Plus, how is something "unformatted?" Did they test the device on a Windows or Mac OS?

So I bring my MacBook to the shop and ask if the IT woman can test my drive and see if maybe it works but she regurgitates the same schpeel that it's dead. Disappointed, I collect my shit and go.

Got home, plugged it in, and guess what? ALL MY DATA IS HERE!! 😇🙏 Still don't know whether to be happy they fixed it or upset they tried to gouge me for at least $450 for additional repairs. #Saved
