All Eyez On Me

Original Air Date: 10.02.04
Opening Song: "High School Highway" - Sydney Forest

Surprise of the year: last night, our football team actually won a game!! WOO! But it was painful just watching them suffer out there... ouchies. The band went out there and kicked some major boo-tay to be honest. Our latin-themed Halftime set included "Just Roar!" and "Carnivale." I was chosen to lead the line, which was fun; the only drawback was being partnered up with Satan for the final formation.

Yesterday, I was extremely honored when I found out that I qualified for a National Merit Scholarship based on my academic achievements and such. (Oh yeah!) Everyone congratulated me everywhere I went; I didn't get out all nervous and crazy either. Thank God. Also that day, I started keying some senior write-ups into the yearbook database and Jessica had to hack up some ditzy girl's thank-you's because apparently, that girl thought that being in yearbook meant she could go 400 characters over the set limit!

The only weird part of Friday was my Weight Training class. I dressed up for school with my Kill Bill-style shirt and spiffy black snakeskin shoes, as soon as I walked into the locker room I was greeted by Mr. LeFrancois. (umm, AHHHHHH!!!) Frankly, I just didn't feel comfortable with him being in my naked sanctuary, the thought just made me feel so dirrrty. As soon as I'd exposed my skin to the wind, put on my shirt, shorts, and socks, I realized... I forgot to bring a pair of tennis shoes! I could've gone out there in my shiny-shiny black shoes, but even I'm not that weird.

Thursday was kinda interesting. We had our senior panoramic photo shoot. I sat with my fellow models: Autumn, Chelsey, Carolyn, and Mike C. The photographer must have taken 20 prints of us... you know, so he could finally make me blink. I had lots of fun with my poses; I mock-kissed Carolyn, did my Zoolander face, and worked my moody arteest look. Luckily, Mike's fat knee in my back kept me from breaking that smile. Whew.

The Juniors (Dana, Amanda, Heather G, Twomey..) got their class rings that morning and they looked very impressive (better than ours). The weirdest thing that happened on Thursday was the arrival of the new vending machine. You see, every bottle of soda in that machine was frozen solid! Just as I started to twist off the lid so I could try to enjoy the poor man's slushie, Ashley warned me that the bottle cap was gonna shoot off and become a weapon of mass destruction. I stopped turning but the bottle fizzed and started to rumble-- it was exploding in slow motion! I even had time to run to trash can without spilling a single drop. When I went back to the hallway I saw the soda-stained disaster area; apparently, other people weren't as lucky as me. Oh, the horror!

During Journalism class I had the chance to interview a girl in my class named Danielle. She may be a Field Hockey beast on the outside, but inside, she's a big ol' softy. The only thing that really grossed me out about Danielle was her ability to pop her ankles at will. The sound of them rocking back and forth will haunt my dreams for years to come (it literally sounded like a rusty door hinge). *cringe* Also, in that class, Mrs. McArdle told me that a girl was going around with a picture of me from the second grade. Apparently, it was taken on Career Day in 1995. And frankly, I am kinda freaked out because I was not the beautiful man that you see today. I won't lie to you; back then, I had more forehead than face and I didn't learn how to smile 'til I reached the sixth grade (I did the chipmunk face). To make things even more embarrassing, I was wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase in the picture.

After school I caught up with Jeff and Marianne at the Spanish Honor Society meeting. I was shocked because I was ranked #27 in the senior class (of 339 students) with a GPA of 3.871; Jeff, on the other hand, has a 4.15 and is ranked #10. Marianne's around #17 and Brittany C's #31. (she's gaining on me!) The great thing is that I'm genuinely happy for him and there's absolutely no jealousy there (I guess I'm growing up).

What did I learn today? I learned that friendship is much stronger than jealousy. And by seeking out this "Allison" person, I've learned from previous mistakes to hide the evidence and kill the spread. It's not that I don't want anyone to see my elementary school pictures, I just wonder why someone I haven't talked to in over 6 years would care enough to look at a picture of me during such an awkward phase.
