Faster Than A Speeding BULLET (Vol. 6, Issue 17)

Original Air Date: 07.03.2008
Theme Song: "Too Much Time On My Hands" - Styx

Speeding Bullet Cover

Thanks to the Dream Team of Megan & Ally, this past year has been the most fun I've ever had in Marching Band: Clarinet Coffee Breaks, Clarinet Cartwheels, Clarinet Sunbathing, Clarinet Segregation (Exiles!!)... all good stuff. HOWEVER, after much deliberation with lots of back-and-forth debate, I've decided not to return to the Bullet Marching Band this year.

It's not that I've grown to hate the band in my old age, it's not that at all. But my actual reasons for leaving are a legion:

1) I'm not a music major, and investing such a LARGE amount of time in Band has taken away from time I should devote to my double major.

2) I've stayed in the marching band primarily for the social aspect, and soooo many of my favorite people won't be around this year (the seniors are gone, Matt's on break, and KT'll be south of the border).

3) Dr. Peddell's gone back to the land down under. As crazy as he was, he's been my director for the past 3 years--we had history--but this new guy and I won't have that. 2008 will be a rebuilding year, and without Peddell around, I'd feel like the journey was even more thankless.

4) Since this will be my last year @ gBurg, I would like to experiment with something new; I've been playing the clarinet for 12 years, and now, I'd like to try a new outlet for expressing myself, possibly more dancing but more than likely, some more hands-on filmmaking.

Despite all these reasons, one thing remains true: I LOVE you guys, I LOVE our section, and I just wanted to let y'all know about my decision, just so you won't be shocked and/or offended when I don't show up to Band Boot Camp this year. ;-)

Best of luck to ALL of you w/ Band and any other endeavors. Good Luck, Kristen, I'm sure you'll lead them well. To all the seniors, you will genuinely be missed!! <3 To Shaffy, I'll see U in ALLiES House, Ow-oW!! And don't forget: Just because I'm not in Band anymore doesn't mean you're all dead to me, so if U see me on campus, don't be afraid to say "Hey"... I'll HollaBack. =D C'est la vie, GTB.
