My Big Fat GREEK Weekend (2.18)

Original Air Date: 04.01.2006
Theme Song: "Smack Her With A Dick" - Chris Rock

Me bendin' it at The Golden Explosion!

It's Friday. Since I feel like supporting my friends, and since surprisingly, I have nothing better to do tonight, I go to Sigma Gamma Rho's GOLDEN EXPLOSION party at The Attic. I get there about an hour late yet I'm one of the first non-Greeks to show up. No one's on the dance floor; they're crowded around the TV watching In Living Color. For the first hour, I sit at the bar and talk to Daryl since we actually have a great deal in common.

Travis, Erin, and Erin's boyfriend

Since no one wants to get up and dance to the whack jams being played, I ask Jess when the DJ's coming. She says, "He's right there." I turn to my left and see the guy on my left staring at a computer screen (with DJ software)... "Oh, hey. Keep up the good work." *sigh* He finally plays some dance music a half-hour later. The Sigma girls do their "signature sorority step dance" and I take some time to teach Jess and Folashade some moves. Jess thinks I'm a professional dancer... Hahaha, but I really enjoy the compliment. Around midnight, the total number of people there doubles and everybody has a good time on the dance floor: I breakdance, Kat & Nelly work it, and Deb gives out free lapdances. Sweet.

Timing is everything!

The only disturbing thing about the Golden Explosion is the song choice. It's a lot of R&B (way too laid back for me) with some nasty-ass rap. Seriously, my eyebrows shot up over my head when I heard some of those choruses... but the girls were just out there dancin' too it: Pop yo' pussy! Pop yo'Pussy and... I just got some head! and of course, 'Til the sweat drips down my balls--Skeet, skeet, skeet! EWWWWW!! I don't get down like dat.

On Saturday, I invite Mark to attend Airbands with me since he thinks I'm lying about him avoiding me... well, Surprise-Surprise, he ends up having to watch Pride and Prejudice *cringe* all night. M'hmm, how I love bein' right, LOL. Anyway, I go to the ballroom to see the Airbands, even though I have no idea what it is; I assume it's a Battle of the Bands between frats and sororities but they don't play their own instruments. WELL...

Take that one step further. It's a lip-synching contest! Yeah, dozens of drunk sorority girls lip-synching to hits of the past... oh well, on the bright side, at least they won't be butchering my favorite songs with karaoke. *shudder* Although I'm sitting there before the show starts thinking, "Oh God, I need a drink, *looks at hyperactive Chi Omega girls* Make that two," the show turns out to be an absolute blast!

Teenage Mutant NINJA Turtles!

The Tri Sigma seniors (2nd Place) do a tribute to everyone's favorite childhood shows including Saved by the Bell, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? Personally, my favorite part of their skit's when Megan bodyslams Jen while in her ninja turtle get-up. My girls at Sigma Gamma Rho end up taking the top prize with their skit, Sigma's Next Top Model. They definitely deserve to win because they were the only group to actually be creative and perform a verbal skit too; plus, they all have rhythm.

Every little thing I do never seems enough for you...

The guys at Lambda... somethin' do an *NSYNC number (It's Gonna Be Me). The girls go wild! They're the only frat who decided to enter the contest so of course, they win Best Frat performance. The saddest thing during the show is the fact that a lot of the sororities forgot that they were in a lip-synching contest, so they were just spazzing out on stage not even moving their mouths... especially the girls who sang In the Navy. LOL, really, you can't even lip-synch? C'mon, people! O well, they had fun and so did everyone there--how could you not? It felt like a giant cheerleading competition in there!
