♫ Ballroom Blitz ♫ (CD4, TR9)

Original Air Date: 02.18.2007
Theme Song: "Ballroom Blitz" - Tia Carrere (from Wayne's World)

Happy 175th Birthday, Gettysburg College!! And let me just say... Longest. Birthday. EVER!!! Seriously, y'all, we've been celebrating this since last fall; it's what we call "Overkill." But anywho, it's that special time of year again, the annual SnowBall, a campuswide bash in the ballroom. And after 2 weeks of checking my mail, my authentic Chinese suit jacket arrived from Shanghai, China. HOT!

Trav and I

In order to avoid hearing the Nabisco Chocolate Chip Cookie song (you know the one!) over and OVER again, I've decided to arrive fashionably 2 hours late. Don't get me wrong, I like the Buzz Jones Big Band, the jazz band that always plays music before the DJ arrives, but Nevertheless, I STILL end up hearing them playing that song... TWICE! *twitch-twitch* Anywho, since my sunglasses complete the ensemble, I stroll into the ballroom BLIND AS A BAT, and almost crash and burn into a table. At least I would've looked good doin' it! ;-)

Becky and I

After walking a quick quarter lap around the dancefloor, I latch onto Mel & Beth, and the three of us hang out for most of the night. Too bad they make me feel so old... I suggested we re-enact the 3-way dance scene from Dirty Dancing (y'know, the Hungry Eyes segment), and they had no idea what I was talking about. That reminds me of the time my younger clarinet girls had no clue who Chris Farley was... Ugh, I was walking around in shock for days after that debacle.

Take a Book Leave a BookSince my trip to New Orleans over the summer turned me on to still photography (something I always looked down on), I decide to enlist Melissa in helping me take some cool, voyeuristic (aka STALKER) snapshots. Doing our best Brad & Angelina impressions, I lead Mel around the dancefloor with my camera propped up on my shoulder as she lets me know when the target's in sight. *flash* Sneaky-sneaky.

As to be expected, after all that feverish rump-shakin', the ballroom becomes hot as hell, so Mel and I take refuge by the Coffee Cart, just as Sarah, Jai, and I did last year. We check out the limited book selection @ the cafe (almost entirely made up of Star Trek anthologies) before inevitably walking home. Not a bad night at all if I do say so myself.
