Oh, I Positively Adore the Theatre... (2.15B) (Previously UnAired)

Date of Production: 04.09.2006
Theme Song: "Carmen Habanera" - from Carmen

Although I had my doubts when Billy invited me to the theatre a few days ago, this afternoon I've decided to take him up on his offer. It gives me the chance to dress up--tonight's ensemble consists of my orange 100% Chinese silk, black slacks, and snakeskin shoes. Alright, I'm all ready to go see Eighth Blackbird... whoever they are.

Eighth Blackbird

Billy arrives early and I invite him up 'cause I still have to make myself pretty. Once we're ready and almost out the door, I hear Mark's voice echoing around the stairwell. He's calling out, "Roomie? Where are you?" It sounds like he's coming from EVERYWHERE, if that's possible. It's freakin' me out. Where is he? Lo and behold, as soon as Billy and I reach the front door, Mark stumbles out from the corner by the door. I ask him what he's been up to and he tells me he was just "peeing in the corner." Nice. The sad thing is... I don't think he's drunk. I yank Billy out the door and away from the crazies.

We walk down to the Majestic and take our seats next to all the Mus-Ed majors. It find it incredibly hilarious that when Dr. Peddell (or as they call him "P. Delly") enters the auditorium, we all just lose our shit. Y'know, like he's a celebrity. We're like, "Oh my god, it's Dr. Peddell!" I'll admit that it was exciting to see our band director outside of practice.

Shari Lewis & Lambchop

The show finally starts and what do I see? Puppets! Not only are there puppets... this is the most depressing puppet show I've ever seen! It starts out with a little girl who falls into the water; an old man jumps in and sacrifices his life to save hers. The big distraction is the presence of these chicks in black leotards moving the puppets... I mean, they aren't even trying to be unnoticeable. Frankly, the entire time, I'm thinking, "I could do that."

And NO, it doesn't get better after intermission. Unfortunately, that's when they perform their Three-Act German-language opera with a life-size puppet and people dressed as instruments. The best part is when the woman chops off her hand... I have NO idea why she did it, but it was pretty hot. All in all, I still prefer "Lambchop" and even though that show was free, JiMBO wants a refund! M'hmm.

Freaky-Deaky German Opera

After the show, we go back to my place, I make a quick costume change, and then we're off to Midnight Madness. The event is so goddamn boring because I'm working it as a member of the Spectrum staff. And by working it, I mean, we just stand there at the entrance like cardboard cut-outs and stare at people before they come in. We don't even have to swipe their meal cards! We don't have a booth or a table... we're just like stalkers/greeters. After a couple of hours of boredom, Kat, Emily, Billy, and I sneak out of there.
