Opening Song: "Rocketman" - Elton John
After the cast party for our 2nd Weekend of Short Plays (which I'll talk about in my next entry) last night, I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.
Earlier this afternoon I took my Mama to the movies; we decided to see XXX: State Of The Union and it was HOT! Awesome special effects, great music, all-star cast--plus, it had a style reminiscent of the newer James Bond movies. Good stuff.
When I sifted through my mail today, I found my official course selection book for Gettysburg College. I'm soooooo ready to leave Pasadena! And it turns out that the school gives you the option of studying abroad during your last 6 semesters of study. WOO! This means that I can attend Gettysburg College's campus in Italy (1st choice), South Africa or Japan! Luckily, they have English-speaking professors who teach students the native tongue.
It's extremely exciting because now more than ever, I want to make new friends, learn a new language (already "mastered" Spanish), keep in touch with some buds, and never have to see some faces ever again. Too bad my dearest friends (Janelle, Carolyn, Shannon) are staying in Maryland; this just may be our last month together ever... *sigh* Hopefully not.
I actually read an online news article today that dealt with the latest TV trend: off-kilter, unconventional advertisements. Too bad it was written by some idiot who totally contradicted himself throughout the article. He kept pointing out how the Skittles commercial (with the sheep people) used twisted humor and focused on the wrong age group... he pointed out about 7 other specific commercials.
It was so bad that I was forced to post a comment on it. It went a little somethin' like this:
These wacky ads mentioned in the article did what they sought out to do: they got our attention and made us think about the product.
Just by the sheer number of times this writer (Seth Stevenson) mentions the brand names proves that they were effective.
So who gives a damn about what images they use and how appropriate they are? I don't. There are way more important things to worry about nowadays.
And out of the thousands of posts on that message board, someone actually responded to mine and agreed with "everything" I said. That just made my day. WOO! That's all... for now.
