Opening Song: "Can't Get Enough of You, Baby" - Smash Mouth
Before I go into where I've been for the past month, I just wanna ask you somethin: "Does EVERYBODY work at Lauer's?" Seriously. I ran into that store for 60 seconds (I was craving those microwaveable pretzels) and I was stopped by FOUR people that I knew working there: Matt, Josh, Amy, and the cashier dude who was impressed by my performance at Music Mayhem.
Oh yes, my triumphant return to the stage (1st time since Eighth Grade Talent Show) to choreograph and perform a dance number all by myself. In addition to that, I had to handle the competing rock bands and help them get their equipment all set up. I danced to "Sandstorm" (by Darude) with Chelsey, Julie, Heather, and Zach doing my light show. Although I felt nauseous the entire time and the stage was slippery as ice (I was thinking, "Somebody waxed the shit out of this stage!" before I remembered--Nobody ever cleans the stage. Ew.), I did an awesome job and since the show, I've been barraged with nothing but compliments!
Quote Of The Day: "You jump that rope, bitch! Jump it all period LONG!" - Megan, Female JiMBO Fan in my Team Sports class
I had a lot going on that day! After someone stole my glasses (*cough* Ken) and returned them to me a week later, I finally broke down and got contact lenses. Thanks, Ken. AND it is SOOOO weird; I'm seeing my own, authentic reflection for the first time in SIX years! And since I'm getting so good at putting 'em on my eyes, I just might order some designer contacts (most likely color enhancers or cat eyes) so I can wear them to Senior Prom ("gotta put in my party eyes, y'all!").
That reminds me: Senior Prom, May 22nd. As you remember, I'm going with Autumn and I reserved my tuxedo yesterday. It's exactly what I wanted: nehru jacket, mandarin collar, and a platinum vest. And now the plan is to chip in the mulah for the limo and arrive to the prom looking HOTTTT with Autumn, Shannon, EJ, Lauren, Amber, Zach, and I think, Smithers. And of course, I'll be hopped up on the SOBE (Energy Drink) so I can get down all night long. WOO!
Oh yeah, more good news. I got into Gettysburg College in PA! And Sacred Heart in CT! Not Columbia (in NY). Anywho, I got into Gettysburg on pretty much a full academic scholarship! BOO-YAH! It's such a wonderful feeling. Out of over 5,000 applicants, only 685 got in... and I was one of them. Plus, I've been admitted to their Honors College b/c I'm already in the top 10% (top 68 people) based on my GPA and SAT I & II scores. WOOOO-WEE! I'm just glad I don't have to go to the Community College... not that there's anything terribly wrong with that; some of my best friends will be going there. BUT I will NOT! I'm gon', y'all.
What else happened? Right, tension between Drama club members has resurfaced. Damn! It's all Mrs. Stevenson's (the special ed teacher) fault; she came in to talk to everybody, without Mr. LeFrancois' knowledge, about listening to your student directors... using Angela as an example. M'hmm.
Anyway, my Rice Lady was injured on Friday in freak Tech accident. One of the freshman girls was drilling a screw into a door frame (to be used in "The Visits"); Carolyn was holding the wood... *teehee* when the screw flung out of place and cut off the top of her thumb! *cringe* We had to rush her to the Health Room (best medical attention in the ENTIRE school, y'all) and stay by her side while the nurse tossed her a cold pack. Luckily, Carolyn has the heart of a lion and is doing very well. Love you, Rice Lady; glad you're all-right.
What else was there...? SPRING BREAK! I went to Columbus, Ohio to hang out with my grandparents and it was SOOO MUCH FUN! They have a mall town, Easton, and it was incredible: the McDonalds restaurant there was twice as big as our BEST BUY! It was GIANORMOUS, I tell ya! And I was happy to see great grandma in the nursing home; don't worry: it's a top-of-the-line nursing home if I've ever seen one.
The only thing I hated about that visit was our trip to the cafeteria where I sat next to great grandma's archnemesis, this British hag who was always angry at somebody. Really. My grandma Cora said "Hi" to her and she responded, "If my daughter doesn't come and get me tomorrow, I am going to kill myself!" *smile and nod* That's nice... And she kept asking me the same question: "Are you going to eat?" "You're a growing man, you need this food more than I do." Lady, I'm just here to visit my sweet great grandmama--I can eat later.
And it was so hilarious seeing my family again, and finally discovering where I got all of my mannerisms. While we were at the nursing home, my mom told great-grandma that she was supposed to only eat sugarless gum and great-grandma just looked at me with that "She must be out of her damn mind" look that I always give my friends. And for those of you who know me and my incessant humming (doo-da-doo-doop-doo...), you can blame my Aunt Erma cause she does the exact same thing. No kidding, same rhythm and everything. It was so freaky... but in a good way! I miss Ohio--I didn't want to come back home.
But I did. And now I'd better study for my Hamlet exam tomorrow and get ready for my performances this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in The Visits, a Rice Lady production.
